Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
